Start a Chapter

We’re always interested in learning about campuses and communities where women want the Alpha Chi Omega experience.

Starting collegiate chapters

As a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, we work under that organization’s rules. Under those rules, if a school already has sororities, that institution’s college Panhellenic must vote to invite another group to campus, and then choose the organization that best fits the campus. If there is no such organization at your school, we can work directly with your college or university.

Many factors determine whether Alpha Chi Omega would consider establishing a chapter at a particular university, including:

  • The number of women involved in fraternal organizations and the level of participation in those organizations.
  • The number of women interested in the Greek experience.
  • Housing availability or requirements.
  • Alumnae members in the area who would support a collegiate chapter in their community.

For more information about new collegiate chapters, contact Beth Conder, Associate Executive Director.

Starting alumnae chapters

It’s much easier to start an alumnae chapter.  All you need are 10 dues-paying members, including an alumnae chapter president and treasurer.  Your group can then submit a petition to the National Council through our Lifetime Engagement Department.

If there’s not already a chapter in your community—and you have a group of Alpha Chi Omegas who would like to launch one in a local community or online—contact Megan Houghton, Assistant Director of Lifetime Engagement, and she'll be happy to help.
