Since 1955 Alpha Chi Omega has had a staff member devoted to traveling to our collegiate chapters to provide support for chapter operations. Our first consultant was called a “traveling secretary.” She traveled to chapters across the country, staying a month to six weeks at a time with each chapter she visited. The transportation and technology industries have developed since the 1950s, but the principle duties of the chapter consultant have remained the same – providing guidance and resources to our collegiate chapters.
Today, Alpha Chi Omega’s chapter consultants travel to chapters in a specific region, offering support to chapters throughout the academic year. They consult with chapter officers and members about administrative operations and educational programs, teach and encourage leadership development, assist with member recruitment and retention, and provide training to officers and advisors.
For more than 50 years, Alpha Chi Omega chapter consultants have been working with sisters throughout the country to create the best Alpha Chi Omega collegiate experience possible. For more information about what your chapter consultant does and how to welcome her to your chapter, review the following documents.
