Alpha Chi Omega Message Board
Welcome to the Alpha Chi message boards!
Hello! An AXO sister of mine will be getting married in October. I am so happy for her, and my friends and I want to perform/plan an AXO wedding tradition at her wedding. Is there a such thing? We are willing to do whatever it is, we just weren't aware of the traditions that exist. Suggestions? Words of wisdom?
The one "national" tradition would be to sing the sweetheart song. See http://www.alphachiomega.org/sindex.aspx?id=162 for the lyrics to it. I've seen/heard different variations of the last line, so for a wedding "Her Alpha Chi sweetheart is you" could work if the sisters in attendance serenade the groom. Does anyone out here have a recording of the song?
Some chapters have individual traditions, like a song that they would all sing and dance to as a group at formals. If your chapter didn't have anything like that, I would say the sweetheart song is the way to go.
An MP4 (like an MP3) of the Sweetheart Song is posted on Mu Tau Mu alumnae chapter's Alpha Chi Omega songs page (in the section with songs from 2010 Convention)
Something really special is to incorporate the colors of the wedding into the singing also. For instance, if the sister's colors are navy and lime green, you could get lime green paper and print the words on the paper in navy. All the sisters singing get a copy and it is a sweet item for the bride to add to her scrapbook/album (and it will look great in photos)
