Alpha Chi Omega welcomes both collegians and postcollegiate adults, called alumna initiates, as new members.
Both sets of women go through a membership process, outlined below.
We love meeting new, genuine, talented women! The best way for us to get acquainted is to go through your university’s formal recruitment process.
Most of our members are recruited through formal recruitments at schools with established chapters
. Every campus has its own formal recruitment dates and registration procedures. Please contact the campus Panhellenic Council or office of fraternity and sorority life to learn the specifics.
As a member of the National Panhellenic Conference
, our member recruitment process follows NPC guidelines.
We also recruit new members through a process called continuous open bidding. This is less formal and gives us a chance to meet potential members in casual settings like philanthropic events or campus activities. During this process, we rely especially on our current members to recommend outstanding young women for membership.
Membership in Alpha Chi Omega is a mutual choice—yours and ours. All our recruitment processes let us learn about one another to determine if we are a good match.
Our alumna initiate program extends our membership experience to women in various life stages. This program is for you if you are no longer in college, have never been a part of a national sorority, and are looking to belong to an organization that will enrich and inspire you.
Friends, faculty members, house directors, mothers of Alpha Chi Omegas and community members have all become members through our alumna initiate program.
