Prospective Collegians
Like other member-based organizations, Alpha Chi Omega welcomes new members we believe would have happy and rewarding experiences.
We determine this by seeking women of diverse backgrounds and interests who share our standards of academic interest, good character, responsibility, leadership and personal development. As a women’s organization, Alpha Chi Omega is committed to creating a more inclusive membership experience and removing barriers to joining. Revisions to policies and practices continue to evolve as an increasing number of individuals choose to join Alpha Chi Omega.
There are two ways collegiate women may join Alpha Chi Omega. Since our organization is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, our member recruitment process follows NPC guidelines.
FORMAL RECRUITMENT
We recruit most of our new members through the formal recruitment process at colleges and universities where we have chapters.
CONTINUOUS OPEN BIDDING
We also recruit new members through a process called continuous open bidding (COB). This is when we spend time getting to know prospective Alpha Chi Omegas in informal settings, like philanthropic events or campus activities.
Overall, membership in Alpha Chi Omega is mutual. Our recruitment processes helps us get to know women we think might be a good fit, while prospective members get to learn more about us and decide if we’re the organization for them. It’s important for both sides to feel like we’re a good match.
About Us
Alpha Chi Omega is an organization about you: unique, talented, genuine women choosing a fun and meaningful way to enhance your college experience and building lifelong bonds that extend long into your alumnae years.
Explanation of Cost
Our members pay national dues and fees to support the activities and operations of our organization. The cost of Alpha Chi Omega can vary by chapter location and member.
NPC shares information about the Panhellenic recruitment process and preparing for recruitment at no cost in an effort to encourage women who may be interested in joining to feel equipped and empowered to fully participate. NPC does not believe paid recruitment consultants or coaches are a necessary component of recruitment, nor are they advised... Additionally, most College Panhellenic Associations provide recruitment counselors to help guide and coach PNMs prior to, and during, the recruitment process. Recruitment counselors are current collegiate sorority members who are committed to providing sound and neutral guidance throughout the process—everything from explaining terminology to ensuring the PNM is in the right place at the right time.

We have collegiate chapters all over the country, alumnae chapters from coast to coast (and even virtually), and sisters all over the world.
