Keynote Speaker: Sally Hogshead | Dr. Mari Ann Callais | Educational Tracks | PDF: Full Educational Session Desciptions

Alpha Chi Omega makes a promise to each member that she will become the best version of herself. The Real. Strong. Women. Experience delivers on this promise by providing an environment where members are prompted to wrestle with the issues, challenges and questions they must resolve in order to grow and develop into real, strong women. It is the obligation of each member, each chapter and the organization to challenge and support one another through this process.
Further, at the 2018 National Convention, attendees will receive an experience that leaves them inspired to act and equipped with the tools to do so.

Saturday afternoon breakout sessions will focus on general personal development and current hot topics with a combination of featured speakers and Alpha Chi Omega experts who will lead various sessions for attendees to select from. Session topics might include government relations, Alpha Chi Omega songs, diversity and inclusion, trends in higher education, Alpha Chi Omega history, mindfulness and so much more.

Keynote Speaker: Sally Hogshead

Sally Hogshead is the creator of the Fascination Advantage®, the world’s first personality assessment that measures personal brands and how others perceive you. The assessment is based on a decade of research with more than a million participants, including dozens of Fortune 500 teams, hundreds of small businesses and more than a thousand C-level executives.
Sally frequently appears in national media, including NBC’s “Today” show and the New York Times. A dynamic and engaging speaker, she is one of only 237 people inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame, the industry’s highest award for professionalism and speaking excellence.
Sally is also the New York Times bestselling author of How the World Sees You and Fascinate: How to Make Your Brand Impossible to Resist. At the start of her career, Sally skyrocketed to the top of the advertising elite, writing commercials that fascinated millions of consumers for brands like MINI Cooper, Nike, Godiva and Coca-Cola. At age 24, she was the most award-winning copywriter in the U.S., and opened her first ad agency at age 27. Her work still hangs in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Your Amplify Alpha Chi Experience
As an attendee, you will be invited to take the Fascination Personality Test® prior to attending convention to identify your personality archetype. Sally will incorporate the results into her presentation to share the composition of attendees and their leading archetypes in the large group setting.
Equipping yourself with the tools and resources to see how the world sees you allows you to consider your story and how you amplify yourself and Alpha Chi Omega. Sally concentrates on developing you as an individual who in turn influences your team. Ultimately, all of our “teams” (chapters, volunteer teams, etc.) impact the greater Alpha Chi Omega.
By participating in this experience, you will gain tools to be a stronger leader, identify how you add value and consider how you can maximize performance. These concepts and lessons not only apply to the Real. Strong. Women. Experience, but also your individual personal growth.

Afternoon breakout sessions on Sunday will focus on training opportunities for convention attendees in specific roles, including Local House Corporation representatives, alumnae chapter officers, lifetime engagement volunteers, chapter presidents, chapter advisors and collegiate experience volunteers. General programming will also be offered for those not attending convention in an identified track role.

Collegians and Collegiate Experience Volunteers TRACK
Chapter advisors, province collegiate chairs, collegiate experience volunteer lead specialists and collegians will spend time learning from an expert panel discussion focused on the higher education and the fraternity/sorority landscape as well as learning about mental health programming.

Panel on Higher Education and the Fraternity/Sorority Landscape
Throughout 2017 the fraternity/sorority community experienced many major incidents throughout the country that received national attention. These incidents of hazing, alcohol and student deaths started many conversations about the relevancy of fraternities and sororities on today’s college campus. Several campuses have experienced chapter closures, social event moratoriums, formations of task forces to evaluate safety in fraternities and sororities, and campus-wide suspensions for chapters. In this session, attendees will engage in a discussion with a panel of experts to discuss the landscape fraternities and sororities are currently facing and what chapters can do to best partner with their campus and Alpha Chi Omega headquarters to be a part of the movement toward a safer, healthier and stronger fraternity and sorority community.
Mental Health Programming
Mental health is an ever-present issue facing college students today. Alpha Chi Omega endeavors to encourage continuous dialogue regarding mental health. This session will focus on building the skills to discuss mental health with others.
