Amy Jo Gabel

Senior Director of Housing

Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity, Eastern Kentucky University

Contact her about: The benefits of living in the chapter house; how higher education trends are impacting the student housing landscape; how you can love another sorority (almost) as much as your own

Favorite quote: “You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress, simultaneously.” – Sophia Bush

Favorite trip/vacation: The summer before my sophomore year in college, I studied abroad for 5 weeks in London, England. The course was called “Tolkien’s Mythic England”, and in it we explored the works of JRR Tolkien and the places he loved that helped inspire his writing. It was the most amazing trip and an experience I will never forget.

Favorite movie: Annie (the one with Albert Finney and Carol Burnett)

Highest educational degree attained: Masters in instructional leadership

Professional experience: Amy Jo worked for seven years on a university campus in fundraising, residence life and student activities, including four years as a fraternity/sorority adviser. She then worked for her own Greek organization, Alpha Omicron Pi, as the director of membership experiences where she supervised chapter services, education and alumnae engagement. Immediately prior to joining Alpha Chi, Amy Jo served as director of client experience for CSL Management, a company focused on preserving the unique experience of Greek housing through operations/project management, consulting and education.
