Healthy Relationships Week

February 10-14, 2020

The goal of Alpha Chi Omega's Healthy Relationships Week is to foster the development of healthy relationships and, by so doing, prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. The week's programming is open to all who wish to create real change in their community – members and nonmembers!

Our HRW 2020 focus is healthy communication. Open and honest communication is a cornerstone to every healthy relationship. Alpha Chi Omega challenges you to evaluate your relationships with family, friends or romantic partners to see where you can work to have healthier communication.

1. EDUCATE YOURSELF, YOUR SISTERS AND YOUR COMMUNITY!

Alpha Chi Omega has created a brief, 30-minute Program with Purpose for Healthy Relationships Week 2020 on promoting healthy relationships and understanding healthy communication for collegiate or alumnae chapters to facilitate within an established chapter meeting. Be sure to check out the optional additions to the primary program, focused on communicating effectively, resolving conflict and stepping in!

2.  PROMOTE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS ONLINE AND IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

We are also asking our members to participate in the Love is… campaign. All you have to do is take a picture of yourself with a sign that says “Love is ____________”, filling in your personal definition of love. The best part is anyone can participate in this campaign – not just members of Alpha Chi Omega! If you would like to download the Love is… social media branded materials, please see the links below (coming soon)!

Collegiate chapters will also be receiving Healthy Relationships Week branded buttons to help spark conversations about healthy relationships. Don’t forget to take photos and post on social media using the hashtags #healthyAXOlove and #AXO and tag @AlphaChiOmegaHQ.

3. Raise awareness!

Get creative with your involvement. Excellent resources to help brainstorm great ideas to honor HRW are loveisrespect.org and joinonelove.org. Consider hosting a tabling event, running a social media campaign, sharing a video from One Love Foundation or loveisrespect.org or organizing a Love is… campaign on your campus to promote the Healthy Relationships Week message.

4. CONNECT WITH SISTERS ON FEBRUARY 11 FOR ALPHA CHI NIGHT OUT!

During Healthy Relationships Week, Alpha Chi Omega encourages alumnae members to make plans with sisters in their area. Here are just a few ideas to get you started on your planning: coffee, drinks, brunch, appetizers, a workout or walk together, playdates, catching a movie, shopping in person or a Skype/FaceTime/phone call with a sister in another city, state or country. There is no expectation for what you should do, other than enjoy the company of at least one other Alpha Chi Omega!

On the Alpha Chi Night Out webpage, find details for events nationwide that are open for sisters to attend. Please submit your open-invite event by completing this brief form so we can add it to the list. We hope your alumnae chapter will plan an event in celebration of #AXONightOut!

5. Share Your Impact!

Share this year’s photos with headquarters through photos.alphachiomega.org. Also, you can help us build our history website by submitting previous years' HRW event photos via the same method - just let us know the year the pictures are from!

The opportunities to promote Healthy Relationships Week are endless, and we ask that you lead the charge! Keep up to date with activities and graphic elements, as well as take a look at what others are doing to get involved, via FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
