Leadership Academy 2019

January 11-13, Indianapolis

Leadership Academy is Alpha Chi Omega's premiere training for chapter presidents and executive board officers. Held annually in Indianapolis, Indiana, the weekend training combines innovative learning sessions with sisterhood to inspire new officers when they return to their chapters.

Attendees

All collegiate chapters are required to send the chapter president, vice president new member education, vice president risk management and vice president Ritual and fraternity appreciation.


FACILITATORS
Leadership Academy Breakout Facilitators, Alpha Chi Omega alumnae and friends, will be primarily responsible for preparing for and conducting small group sessions. These gatherings will complement large group and officer sessions and will provide an opportunity for development of leadership skills, application of skills and more personal conversation among peers.

Those selected will be expected to arrive in Indianapolis, IN by the evening of Thursday, January 10 and can depart in the afternoon on Sunday, January 13. Alpha Chi Omega will be responsible for the cost of each facilitator's travel, hotel accomodations and meals while on site. 

 
COLLEGIATE INTERNS

We are excited to offer the opportunity for previous Leadership Academy attendees who have served as chapter presidents to gain valuable resume-building experience while supporting the organization you love!
 
Interns are primarily responsible for assisting with Leadership Academy logistics prior to and during the event. They will also be part of (a) Leadership Academy session(s) in order to share personal experience as an Alpha Chi Omega leader.

REGISTRATION FEES

Registration fees cover the costs of hotel accommodations, some meals and educational materials. Meals included are dinner on Friday; breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday; breakfast on Sunday. All other meals are the responsibility of the participant. Each chapter will be billed for their registration fee on a regular monthly statement from headquarters. Registration is $199.00 per individual. The chapter will also be billed $20 for each individual who signs up to take a tour* of headquarters.


LODGING

Reservations will be booked for each attendee by headquarters. Hotel check-in time is 3 p.m. EST and check-out time is 11 a.m. EST. Roommate assignments will be managed by headquarters, collegiate officers will be assigned to room with another member of their chapter delegation with two officers per room.

Chapters needing to arrive on Thursday, January 10 will need to make arrangements with Allison Summers to ensure an additional night’s stay in the same hotel is reserved. Cost of the additional night will be the responsibility of the chapter.


TRANSPORTATION

Each chapter must make their own transportation arrangements to Indianapolis. Please be sure to make flight reservations or travel plans as early as possible to reduce cost and ensure that your chapter is prepared to attend.
 
The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is approximately 30 minutes from the Indianapolis International Airport (IND). Transportation options from the airport to the hotel property may include taxis, Uber or Lyft. 
If you are driving to Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown is on the southwest side of downtown Indianapolis, near Lucas Oil Stadium and Victory Field. Driving directions are available through your favorite mapping program or on the hotel's website. For additional information, please refer to your confirmation email.


ATTIRE

Friday is casual. Saturday is business casual/badge attire (as though you would be attending a formal chapter meeting). Sunday is letters/university day (wear your favorite letters or university paraphernalia). When packing, remember you are representing Alpha Chi Omega and that hotel conference rooms tend to be cool.

CAN I PURCHASE MERCHANDISE?

Yes, official Alpha Chi Omega vendors will be at Leadership Academy. You may find your new favorite Alpha Chi item!
 

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Please bring great ideas, energy and excitement! Of course, you should also bring writing utensils and paper to take great notes. Also, bring an Alpha Chi swag item to swap with sisters from across the country!
 

CAN I SEE ALPHA CHI OMEGA HEADQUARTERS WHILE I’M IN INDIANAPOLIS?

Yes! An optional Friday tour of headquarters will be available for an additional fee of $20. Two tour opportunities will be offered. The first tour shuttle will depart the hotel at 11:30 a.m., and the second tour shuttle will depart at 2:30 p.m. You can register for a tour as part of your Leadership Academy registration. If you are able to arrive for the first tour, it is encouraged in order to provide enough space for those with later travel plans to attend the second tour. Limited space will be available for both tours. Don't miss this opportunity to see our organization’s home!
 

WHAT OTHER DETAILS DO I NEED TO KNOW?

On-site registration begins at 12 p.m. on Friday. All participants should plan to arrive at the hotel no later than 5 p.m. on Friday evening (11 a.m. or 2 p.m. for those planning to attend the first or second headquarters tour, respectively.) The welcome dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. The event will conclude at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Do not book a return flight that leaves before 2 p.m. EST. We ask that all attendees stay until the conclusion of Leadership Academy.
