Denim day: April 24, 2019
Nearly two decades ago, the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the survivor was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove them, thereby implying consent. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day around the world has become a symbol of protest against flawed and destructive attitudes about sexual assault and a way to raise awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Join Alpha Chi Omega in supporting the victims and survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim, hosting a jean display or event on campus with awareness and educational information.

Educational programs

Financial Literacy Quiz
Not only is April Sexual Assault Awareness Month but also Financial Literacy Month. Our partners at the Allstate Foundation are hosting a financial literacy quiz about financial abuse this month.  Test your knowledge and learn more about public attitudes towards financial abuse in our short, 5-minute quiz. Complete the quiz and enter into a chance to win a Kendra Scott Necklace! You have until April 29, to complete the quiz. A lucky winner will be chosen on April 30!

Programs with purpose
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month collegiate and alumnae chapters are encouraged to facilitate a sexual assault prevention focused Program with Purpose (PWP). Members may log in to the website to access the PWPs.
  1. The Dynamics of Sexual Assault
Through this 40-minute program with purpose, members will increase their awareness of basic sexual assault and domestic violence dynamics, identify cultural origins, name primary dynamics and deconstruct common myths regarding sexual assault.
  1. Let’s Get Clear on Consent
Through this 40-minute program with purpose, members will discuss consent including how it is defined, how it is given or not given and what this looks like on campuses today.
