Rebecca Robinson

Gamma Zeta (Kansas State University)

The skills that Rebecca Robinson learned from advising the Gamma Zeta chapter – mentoring, handling difficult situations, and encouraging others while holding them accountable – are helping her today as the director of economic development at the Kansas State University Institute for Commercialization.

“Alpha Chi Omega has continued to be a transformative influence on my life post-graduation,” she says.

In her role, Robinson is responsible for leading a university/community economic development partnership. This means that she recruits or expands businesses to Manhattan, Kansas that have a partnership with the university. So far, she has brought 18 technology-based companies to the area, creating 500 new jobs and providing a projected economic impact of $77 million.
Her success in this role has taken her across the globe to present at conferences. She is also pursing her doctorate in leadership communication at the university as part of the program’s initial cohort.

Amid this work, she has found time to give back to Alpha Chi Omega, as an advisor and then later helping to establish and lead the Rho Tau Rho (Manhattan, Kansas) alumnae chapter, a process she calls “fun, challenging and rewarding.”
“In my adult life, I always felt like I was giving back to the sisterhood that was so formative during my collegiate days,” she says. “But now I realize that over the last 14 years, Alpha Chi Omega has continued to help me become a real, strong woman!”
