Alpha Chi Omega makes a promise to each member that she will become the best version of herself. The Real. Strong. Women. Experience delivers on this promise by providing an environment where members are prompted to wrestle with the issues, challenges and questions they must resolve in order to grow and develop into real, strong women. It is the obligation of each member, each chapter and the organization to challenge and support one another through this process.

2018 Keynote Speakers:

Sally Hogshead

Sally Hogshead is the creator of the Fascination Advantage®, the world’s first personality assessment that measures personal brands and how others perceive you. The assessment is based on a decade of research with more than a million participants, including dozens of Fortune 500 teams, hundreds of small businesses and more than a thousand C-level executives.
Sally frequently appears in national media, including NBC’s “Today” show and the New York Times. A dynamic and engaging speaker, she is one of only 237 people inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame, the industry’s highest award for professionalism and speaking excellence.
Sally is also the New York Times bestselling author of How the World Sees You and Fascinate: How to Make Your Brand Impossible to Resist. At the start of her career, Sally skyrocketed to the top of the advertising elite, writing commercials that fascinated millions of consumers for brands like MINI Cooper, Nike, Godiva and Coca-Cola. At age 24, she was the most award-winning copywriter in the U.S., and opened her first ad agency at age 27. Her work still hangs in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Your Amplify Alpha Chi Experience
Attendees were invited to take the Fascination Personality Test® prior to attending convention to identify personality archetypes. Sally incorporated the results into her presentation to share the composition of attendees and their leading archetypes in the large group setting.
Equipping attendees with the tools and resources to see how the world sees them allowed individuals to consider their story and how they amplify themselves and Alpha Chi Omega. Sally concentrated on developing attendees who in turn influence their team. Ultimately, all of our “teams” (chapters, volunteer teams, etc.) impact the greater Alpha Chi Omega.
By participating in this experience, attendees gained tools to be a stronger leader, identified how to add value and considered how to maximize performance. These concepts and lessons not only apply to the Real. Strong. Women. Experience, but also individual personal growth.

Attendees stay engaged as she talks and interacts with her audience, instead of simply talking at them.
Your Amplify Alpha Chi Experience
This session focused on inspiring members to share their sorority experience. Mari Ann incorporated interactive music components while inviting sisters to share their Alpha Chi Omega story. Participants were both inspired as well as equipped with the tools to Amplify Alpha Chi by reflecting on their Alpha Chi story, framing their experience and feeling encouraged to share their sorority experience beyond convention.

2018 Educational Tracks

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) offered educational sessions specifically for Local House Corporation (LHC) representatives. Session topics included housing trends, limiting insurance risks, managing projects, budgeting, fundraising tips and roundtable discussions.
Alumnae Chapter Officers and Lifetime Engagement Volunteers TRACK
In this track, designed for alumnae chapter officers and lifetime engagement volunteers, attendees learned the basics of alumnae chapter operations and left with the essential tools and resources needed for a thriving, successful alumnae chapter. Topics included membership recruitment, retention of current members and Lyre Links.
Collegians and Collegiate Experience Volunteers TRACK
Chapter advisors, province collegiate chairs, collegiate experience volunteer lead specialists and collegians spent time learning from an expert panel discussion focused on the higher education and fraternity/sorority landscape as well as learning about mental health programming.

Panel on Higher Education and the Fraternity/Sorority Landscape
Throughout 2017 the fraternity/sorority community experienced many major incidents throughout the country that received national attention. These incidents of hazing, alcohol and student deaths started many conversations about the relevancy of fraternities and sororities on today’s college campus. Several campuses experienced chapter closures, social event moratoriums, formations of task forces to evaluate safety in fraternities and sororities, and campus-wide suspensions for chapters. In this session, attendees engaged in a discussion with a panel of experts to discuss the landscape fraternities and sororities face and what chapters can do to best partner with their campus and Alpha Chi Omega headquarters to be a part of the movement toward a safer, healthier and stronger fraternity and sorority community.
Mental Health Programming
Mental health is an ever-present issue facing college students today. Alpha Chi Omega endeavors to encourage continuous dialogue regarding mental health. This session focused on building the skills to discuss mental health with others.
